Corazon Meta

Corazon is a parent at Bridge, Kiserian where her three children—Albert, Christian and Angel go to school. Kiserian is a small town on the outskirts of Nairobi and it’s located in neighbouring Kajiado county. Kajiado County is among the largest counties in Kenya with a 65% enrolment rate at school; however only 35% of these number get to complete their primary education. It’s also among the counties that has one of the highest rates of early marriage. Corazon dropped out of school since her parents could not afford to pay her high school fees— she married at a very young age herself.  

Corazon does odd jobs like being a nanny for a day and later in the evening embarks on her bead work which she sells in the nearby market. She says that she works hard for her children to get an education at Bridge. Her children have improved since they enrolled at Bridge. She says that the use of technology at Bridge has really helped teachers deliver lessons. “There is no day my children have come home and failed to do homework, their homework is marked daily,” she adds.

She says that enrolling her children at Bridge is one of the best decisions she has made for her children’s life because their future is bright and promising.

“I know my children will achieve the dreams of what they aspire to be in life because Bridge is giving them a good education,” she says, “This will enable them go to great national schools. I am certain that my children will even go to some of the best universities in Kenya because the basic education they are getting/learning is a strong foundation for great things in life.”
